My Project

My name is Abby Baldwin and I am a 3rd grade teacher. I absolutely love my job, my school, my coworkers, and, most of all, my amazing students. We have had a fantastic year so far, but there is one thing that can make it better- the supplies we need for success. My class this year is working hard on growing both socially and emotionally, and we have worked hard to do this with the little resources we have. My calm-down corner is never empty- there is usually a waiting line. In creating this space, I wanted to provide my students somewhere to go to identify and label their feelings, and then practice responding to these feelings in an appropriate and productive way. I have watched my students grow in this area and am so proud of their progress. However, I know that even more progress could be made with the right materials. My students also love to be read to, and we have really strong discussions following SEL-based read aloud. However, we have run out of books. I sometimes play read-alouds, but having a hard copy of the book and being the one to read it to my students really brings the book’s message to life. I am hoping to receive some new books and calm-down corner supplies from my list. I am also hoping to recurve materials for classroom functionality, such as cricut materials to be able to create engaging bulletin boards that showcase my students work/goals, as well as materials such as pencil sharpeners and paper cutters that will help me to get jobs done quicker. If I get jobs done quicker, I have more time for my students, who require lots of attention. Please consider funding my sweet third graders… any donation is SO appreciated!
