This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I can really say that I am blessed to have such a wonderful 2nd grade classroom this year. They are full of wonder, questions about learning, eager to read books that take them on adventures, and open to different strategies to assist them in solving math problems. It gives me such joy to see that they are learning and growing by leaps and bounds in areas such as reading, writing, and mathematics every year.

Our community helps support our school, staff, and their children so that they can become successful learners.

Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds and a majority of our students are English Learners and have a difficult time with support from their parents because of the language barrier.

My Project

My students love to learn, there is no doubt about that, but they learn best when they have interesting materials with bright, colorful photographs. Finding informational text on their level is difficult and that is how TIME for Kids Magazine will fill that need in my classroom.

TIME for Kids brings authentic texts about current science and social studies into the classroom and introduces them to new topics, helping them explore all while building their reading comprehension with informational text.

With these magazines my students will have weekly reading material that is exciting and interesting for young readers. They will learn about science, social studies, and current events. I can't wait to put these magazines in the hands of my students and watch their reading and love of learning reach new heights!
