My students need jumbo tweezers, Bed Bug Games, and a therapy vest, to work on their yearly goals and improve their speech/language skills and their fine motor skills.
I would love for my students to meet a their IEP goals for the year.
I teach a multiple-handicap classroom in rural northwest Ohio. I have a total of seven students, five being nonverbal and four being on the autism spectrum.
My daily schedule varies from day to day.
On Mondays and Thursdays, the students have speech therapy, Tuesdays cooking class, and Wednesdays occupational therapy. My students go out at different times of the day for their music, gym, and art classes. Daily: 9:00 Morning Meeting, 10:40-11:10 Group Math, 1:00-1:30 Group Reading, 1:30-2:15 Independent work/centers. Our therapies and specials are in between these times, when students are out for specials and we are not doing a group lesson, we work on IEP goals.
Our school is a small school that averages about 70 students per grade level.
My Project
My students will use these project materials to enhance their speech/language and fine motor skills. These materials will provide opportunities to independently complete these tasks and help them achieve the goals stated on the Individualized Education Plans(IEP).
The large tweezers and Bed Bugs Game will help the students with hand-eye coordination along with their fine motor skills. The occupational therapy vest has a zipper and buttons. This provides more opportunities for the students to practice independently dressing; a vital life skill.
My project will make a difference in the lives of these students by providing functional skills tasks that will enhance their lives by helping them become more independent with their speech/language and daily living skills through occupational therapy.
