Therapeutic Animal Center

My students need the start-up supplies to create a therapeutic animal room in our school. This includes; the tanks, filters, heat lamps, food, fake logs and rocks along with the animals/reptiles themselves.

My Students

Our students are students who have experienced a lot of pain and trauma in their lives. They are at our school as a last chance option as all other placements have failed them. Even though our students come with many issues and emotional problems they still have a lot of love and compassion to give.

We have many students who call us (the teachers, support staff, and clinicians) their family and look to us for support and care because they have no other place to get it.

Our Students need a therapeutic environment in order to thrive and succeed and our goal here is to give them that environment.

My Project

As I mentioned earlier our students come from troubled lives and most have experienced some sort of trauma. his being said many of them have had major issues being successful in school as a result of the effects of the trauma they have experienced.

Our students aren't your typical learner.

They need extra attention, and most importantly they need a therapeutic environment in order to flourish academically. Having a pet room available for the students to visit or even take tests in can make the difference between a passing grade or having a full-blown meltdown due to the stress of test taking.

The Pet Room will also teach the students responsibility and provide a sense of worth or being needed as they help to maintain and take care of the pets.

These supplies include the tanks, filters, heat lamps, food, fake logs and rocks along with the animals/ reptiles themselves.
