Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have the honor of teaching the Talented and Gifted students at a small, urban school. The majority of my students are economically disadvantaged and English is not their first language. From their background to their zip codes, the cards are stacked against them.
But we are in the business of changing the trajectory of their lives!
Through hands on learning, a leadership model, and integrated emphasis on STEAM, our students are preparing to be leaders in their community and world.
While we do not know the jobs our students will have - many of them don't exist yet - we are equipping them with the skills they need to blaze any path forward.
My Project
Talented and Gifted elementary students will solve real-world problems by creating prototypes of their ideas with their new FlashForge 3D Printer! From addressing campus recycling problems to dreaming up new toy ideas and accessible playground equipment for kids with special needs, TAG students are ready to think critically and design solutions.
By putting technology in students' hands, we are preparing them for whatever dreams their futures hold.
I cannot wait to see their faces light up as our Talented and Gifted students in 1st through 5th grade explore new technology, learn about possible career paths, and watch their ideas come to life!
