Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I absolutely love the resilience, curiosity, and determination my students bring into the classroom every day. As emerging bilingual learners, they come with rich cultural and linguistic strengths and a strong desire to learn. They take risks, support one another, and show so much pride as they grow in their reading and writing skills. My students are special because they are learning to express their ideas in more than one language, and they do so with courage and persistence.

These writing resources will directly strengthen my students’ ability to communicate their thinking clearly and confidently.

Composition notebooks will give students a dedicated space for dictation and daily writing practice, helping them build stamina and independence. Highlighters, pens, and tabs will support revising and editing, allowing students to see writing as a process and take ownership of improving their work. Map-it paddles and flashcards will help students develop foundational skills like word mapping and sight word recognition, which are essential for fluent reading and writing. The mail sorter will help organize student writing portfolios so they can track their growth over time and celebrate their progress.

My goal for this project is to build strong, confident writers by giving students the tools they need to practice, reflect, and improve. With these resources, my students will not only develop critical literacy skills, but also see themselves as capable authors whose voices matter.
