Our school serves a diverse neighborhood of working families, many of whom have multiple challenges. My students are sweet, funny, caring and eager to learn.
Our classroom is a bustling place where six-and-seven year olds are bursting with creativity.
They love stories, music, and math. We do science, outdoor games, and integrate art into the curriculum whenever possible.
We also talk about healthy habits. We have a small garden and a garden teacher. Every child has music class, library time and computer time every week.
My Project
Foundational literacy skills are the core of our first grade classroom! We have students who range from those with very beginning skills - some of whom did not attend kindergarten, or are learning English - to students who are almost ready for 2nd-grade-level challenges.
Let's inspire young writers with a variety of engaging materials.
Providing both traditional supplies as well as innovative and multisensory materials will reach more students. Playdough, dough templates, and dough stampers will provide tactile, fun experiences in letter formation and word formation. Innovative interactive snap-together letter blocks, letter-transforming "robots" and other playful 3D items engage through touch, movement, and visuals. Ink pads will be used with our existing collection of letter stamps. Traditional materials such as dry erase markers and classic pink rubber erasers are always in high demand in our room.
