My Students

My students are quite diverse in their backgrounds. Being a rural school district we pull from all areas in the agriculture rich location in which our school is located. This in turn leads to varying experiences and skill levels of the students. My school setting is one that has one high school campus. The number of students on average in my classes is 25 ranging from 9-12th grade and ages 14-18.

Based on past experiences, my students learn better when they are able to apply the concepts learned in the classroom to an actual real world setting.

This type of practice will allow me to individualize instruction for ability and behavioral levels where needed and provide the best learning environment for my students.

My Project

Using the CASE Animal Science curriculum students will be using a STEM focused curriculum to use student-driven instruction for an inquiry-based model. With help through the purchase of materials including Formalin Pigs and preserved specimens, students will be able to explore hands-on projects and activities to learn the characteristics of animal science and work on major projects and problems similar to those that animal science specialists, such as veterinarians, zoologists, livestock producers, and industry personnel face in their respective careers.

Through donations of lab equipment, students will be able to investigate, experiment, and learn about documenting a project, solving problems, and communicating their solutions to their peers and members of the professional community.

The Curriculum includes topics such as social Issues of animal science, anatomy/physiology, nutrition, reproduction, genetics, animal health, and animal selection.
