Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our school is a Title I-funded school with a learner centered culture. At our school, we recognize that all students regardless of race, income, or background are capable of achieving high expectations.

All students are encouraged to have a growth mindset in order to reach their full potential while participating in rigorous classroom instruction in the Nevada Academic State Standards for Computer Science and Integrated Technology.

All students participate in Computer Science class 45 minutes once a week and an additional 45 minutes once a month with a certified Computer Science educator.

My students are creative problem solvers that enjoy learning about computers and programming. Every year they are excited to participate in our units that involve hands-on robotics, the engineering design process, coding, and solving real-world problems.

I am constantly trying to find ways to excite and engage my students in meaningful and lifelong learning opportunities. I want 100% of my students to feel confident in their abilities to participate in Computer Science and contribute to positively changing their community and the world.

This year, I would like to have students use Makey Makeys to see the world around them as a construction kit and realize materials can be repurposed as invention.

Your donation will help fund this project that allows students to engage in meaningful hands-on cross curricular computer science activities that build foundational knowledge in computer science concepts and skills needed in school and life.
