I am requesting funds to attend the Pathfinders Institute virtually. This will allow me to attend the session on Introduction to Micro:bit. I have recently purchased out of pocket 25 Micro:bits that I would like to use with my students. I teach all students (650) at my school Computer Science on a weekly basis for 40 minutes per week. Attending the Introduction to Micro:bit session this summer from July 18th-23rd will allow me to build my own foundational knowledge of the micro:bit, understand how it can be integrated across the content areas and grade levels, and be able to collaborate with other educators. This conference will also allow me to create lessons and activities for my students that will allow them to engage in the engineering design process while innovating and creating to solve real-world problems. Computer Science standards that students are expected to learn and master at their grade levels can be learned and practiced with hands-on opportunities using the Micro:bit and physical computing. The knowledge that I learn from this Institute will allow me to help countless learners increase their knowledge and love for Computer Science by providing them with engaging lessons and activities. Thank you for considering supporting my project and my students.
