This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

"The individuals whole experience is built upon the plan of his language"-Henri Delacroix. For students with language disorders, understanding and using language is a challenge. In order for my students to succeed in and out of the classroom, they need to practice various language skills.

I work with students with speech and language disorders in a Title I, K-5 elementary school.

Most of my students are in grades 2-5. Working with such a wide variety of students who have differing speech and language needs is both rewarding and challenging. I am constantly looking for new ways to help my students improve their understanding and use of language based on their individual needs and want to give them many opportunities to practice their language skills both inside the classroom and out.

My Project

Because I work with so many grade levels and students with such differing abilities, finding the appropriate materials (on a very limited budget) to use with my students can be challenging. The resources I am requesting will help me with my language therapy by providing more practice opportunities with various language skills for students at their appropriate learning level. I carefully chose these materials based on the ages of my students and the types of language tasks each student needs to work on. I think all of these resources will be a valuable addition to my language therapy activities.

Having new resources to help my students practice their language skills daily will have a great impact on them both inside and outside of the classroom.

From understanding main ideas and details of stories to inferencing to learning about and using multiple meaning words and so much more, each of the resources I am requesting will be beneficial to my students and their unique language needs.
