My Students
Hello! I am the Theatre Arts Teacher at a wonderful elementary school located in East Orange, NJ. I serve 520 students in grades pre-k through 5. Each and every student receives a thorough and comprehensive education in Theatre Arts. We have a very supportive administrator and our community support is admirable. We have a unique schedule in which students in Grades 3-5 “major” in an arts discipline and receive specialized training in that discipline 5 days a week for 40 minutes a day. The students also have the unique opportunity to perform in a state of the art facility located next door at The Cicely Tyson School of Fine and Performing Arts. These students are truly a dedicated group who often give up their time to support our community!
My Project
I am directing a production of The Wizard of Oz: Young Performers Edition, with a cast of 1st grade through 5th grade. We are in desperate need of props and costume pieces. These props and costume pieces will be used to further our production and the students will be able to use (and be responsible for) real props and costume pieces.
Being able to provide them with new items will be extremely rewarding to our students and the theatre program at our school.
We are working with a budget of $0 to put on this production and the support given by donors would be greatly appreciated. Please help my students and performers in putting on the best production we can.
