Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is a Title I school with a huge population of free and reduced lunch. My students live in a neighborhood considered to be a low income community, but this has not affected their eagerness and enthusiasm to learn.

They are all high achievers and are always ready for a new challenge.

Their determination and love for learning is seen in each of my students. My students will be blown away at the unlimited and exciting ways they can engage, learn, and grow.

My Project

Some of my students have a difficult time staying seated at their desk. One student would tell me he needed to walk and think. They helped research alternative seating that would help them move around while they were working for exercise and concentration.

Research has shown that the ability to move around more while sitting made the students more attentive.

The project contains the types of seating, a Hokki stool, they thought would work best to allow them to move around while they were working. I've found that some of the immediate benefits of flexible seating include burning more calories, using up excess energy, improving metabolism, increased motivation and engagement, creating a better oxygen flow to the brain, and improving core strength and overall posture because they stay active more than 60 minutes a day.
