Help me give my students flexible seating in the classroom! These cushions and bouncy bands will give them freedom to move while still enjoying learning.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Gail Borden said "I tried and failed. I tried again and again and succeeded". Failing and trying again until you get it right is a normative in my 4th grade classroom, and the students hold each other accountable to this norm. In 4th grade science, my scientists value mistakes. Instead of getting discouraged, my scientists see failure as an opportunity to try again until they are victorious.
My scientists are excited to learn and are very curious about the world around them.
I hope to provide them many opportunities to enrich their knowledge and desire to explore.
My Project
My students are very active. They play soccer, chase each other in tag at recess, and climb to the top of the jungle gym. They are still kids, and they love to move around. This can make sitting in a classroom for extended periods of time more challenging. I am needing to provide flexible seating to my students who need it most - the wiggliest of them all!
These wobble seats and bouncy bands will give my students the freedom to move while they continue to work hard.
They will allow students to move and get their wiggles out without distracting others, and they will make the chairs in my classroom feel more comfortable on test days. I already have students in mind who I would love to see using these in action, because I know it would make a huge difference in their classroom experience. This project has the potential to reach over 200 4th and 5th grade scientists. There are enough bouncy bands for every chair in my classroom, and wiggle seats for six students per class. I am excited to see the positive changes these materials could make for my students!
