My Project

At Dunstan Middle school, our team of staff and students are organizing the #WhyYouMatter photo project in which EVERY person in our school (approximately 1000 people) takes a black and white photo holding a hand-written, self-created, beautiful affirmation of why they matter. We will be helping each member of our Dunstan family look inside, find their purpose, really examine their positive attributes, see the characteristics that make them unique, and realize the reason why the world is a better place because they are in it - such important reflections.

We need your support in helping us with the expensive materials needed to do this amazing, powerful project.

We have printer, but we need ink, photo paper, and adhesive tabs to put up the photos. These 1000 8.5x11 photos and affirmations will be displayed in our school's front atrium on April 25, the Day Without Hate, so that our students will arrive to school and see it filled with their faces, affirmations of hope and love, and those of their peers and teachers.

So far, we have been organizing several other meaningful social and emotional lessons and activities with staff and students exploring why we matter and these activities. In 2 weeks, we will have students and staff create and write their "#WhyIMatter" affirmation for themselves. Next, we take their pictures to capture the emotion and authenticity in their faces and words, then we hope to print... with your help. Thank you for reading and for supporting us!
