Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

67 different cultures are represented in our school where all are present. Most of our students are friendly, shy, outgoing, and super sweet. The high school is one of the larger high schools in the state, but sometimes, we lack funding for new novels. Overall, I work at a high school where teachers truly care for their students, and often times, use money out of their own pockets for resources, including me.

Since we have returned from remote learning, we have realized our students have lost the culture of reading, and we would like to get back to the joy we once had around reading.

We hope to get 2,200 copies of a common book, so all students can read, discuss, and own a copy. We feel this will be a great jumpstart to getting back to our reading roots.
