Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Our district awarded our school a grant for a food pantry and laundry facility in our building. The grant covers materials such as paint, shelves, and tables, but it is up to our school community to ensure that the pantry remains stocked so that we can serve up to one hundred students in our building. We have hosted events where we have collected canned goods and nonperishables from the community, and everyone is excited to see the impact that this resource will make in our school. Our counselors have identified the students who can most benefit from the pantry, and we have volunteers willing to stuff backpacks with food for students to take home on weekends and during breaks throughout the year.
