This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our fifth graders love learning about history. They are energetic, talkative, and insightful. This book will open up ample opportunities for discussion as well as grow our reading comprehension skills. As we read and employ strategies to help with understanding, we will also be gifted with a glimpse into history. We often combine our English Language Arts lessons and our Social Studies lessons to make them more engaging. The historical fiction novels we are requesting for the class will spark interest and engage students in reading, our ultimate goal. With a female lead character and a child centric story, our 5th grade readers will be captivated from the very first page! I’ve taught this book in the past, but we don’t have a class set of books… this project will change that and give access to all students.
