Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are hard working, fun-loving learners. We explore our world, each and every day, though shared reading, drama and play.

I feel so lucky to be a kindergarten teacher, because my students come to school, every day, eager to experience books!

You can hear a pin drop when we open up books together! It is my favorite time of the day.

My families come from many different backgrounds and cultures. The most common similarity among my kids is, absolutely, loving sharing books and exploring new worlds through them!

My Project

Developing good number sense makes all the difference in shaping young learners into strong mathematicians. Children love well written stories that they can connect to their lives. My excitement for this project merges literature and math to create a fun learning experience!

Research proves that introducing math concepts, through the use of literature, strengthens their overall comprehension of number sense.

When learners can see math enacted in everyday life, or woven through a story about their favorite characters, it will stick. My students are so excited about math. Receiving these books would serve as a jumpstart to dive into addition, subtraction, geometry, measurement, counting and many more concepts.
