It also helps them move their supplies from one place to another if necessary to work in different groups around the classroom. Once on the carpet I heard things like, \"This is so soft!\" and \"I love this!\" \r\nThey sat their little bodies down and then started rubbing their fingers over the carpet. To get their attention back we played a game about our five senses. Touch: soft; See: bright, pretty; Smell: new smell, fresh; Hear: quiet when we walk; and Taste: we decided we couldn't eat our new carpet; we love it too much!\r\nWe use our new carpet every day. We meet for our morning meeting, our main lesson on letters and sounds, we listen to books, we learn about our calendar and have our math lesson. These snacks have really made a difference in the students' daily performance. In our school, breakfast is served from 8:00-8:25. Usually I have a few students come in late. They are not able to eat breakfast.
