My Students
My students are from a low-income, rural community in Northern Maine. Our small school is where students not only learn coursework, but also important skills for the real world. The students spend a portion of their day in my social studies classroom taking courses in world history, US history, civics, personal finance, and college and career planning. My students love to be active learners who think, collaborate, analyze, and make connections from the past to current events. I love that they are investing in their futures and challenge themselves in the classroom.
My Project
I am requesting resources for my students from Teachers Pay Teachers. The website has brilliant work published by teachers who are using the materials in their classroom every day. These resources will allow my students to take on a variety of tasks that help with notetaking, analyzing, collaborating, and thinking while allowing them to make connections to the material and today's world.
My students need additional engaging, interactive materials in my classroom that encourage them to take a closer look at history while sparking their curiosity through a variety of tasks.
The additional resources will include material on early history, Civil War, WWII, and historical thinking skills.
