Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The diversity of my classroom is apparent, not only academically but socially as well. Many students that attend my school come from low income homes that do not have access to enough academic support from their families. Some students are able to thrive through life's challenges and endeavors; however, there are groups of students that need support from the school to help them achieve their goals.
My student's are excited to read and write about their personal experiences and create a world for others to join in with their world.
My Project
The books Rump, Red and Jack will be used to compare and contrast characters and authors points of view. Students will need to have the book accessible to gather evidence for their claims. The books will be 2-1 ratio, which will give them the ability to share thoughts and ideas with their reading partner.
I want to give my students the opportunity to deeply engage in their reading.
My students need time to investigate and search for information. A read-a-loud format does not have any reread-ability, which is needed. With these books all the students will have access to the story at their fingertips.
