Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Many of my students struggle with the daily task of existing in a society that doesn't understand them. My students are curious learners that come from broken homes or have some type of learning disability. They want to be understood and are eager to please when given the opportunity to shine. Even though they might not always act typical; they are still just kids just trying to get passed all the staring and loud noises this world throws at them.
My Project
My students love to pretend and while playing with plastic items that look like real items are interesting to look at they are not exactly items my students would see in their everyday lives. So this year I would like to introduce to them the option to create their own travel scenarios. We need some Packing Cubes to sort and store the themed play area. Different sizes of backpacks and travel bags for them to fill and create their own luggage. Two scratchable maps for the kids to view the world as well as the US.
No trip around the world would be complete without a day at the beach.
To the water table we would like to add Orbies and bathbombs to enhance the water to an ocean get away. We have several multicultural outfits but would like to add a few more clothes aprons, scarves, and socks so they have clothes to stuff into their backpacks. This year we are not permitted to use the onside cafeteria bathroom so I am requesting some highly needed sanitary items such as hand towels, tissues, wipes, and sanitizing bottles to keep us clean on our way to go eat lunch.
