My Students

My first grade students are polite, curious, and animated! It is a joy to see their smiling faces enter the classroom ready to learn and grow each day! Many of my students come from low-income households and face a variety of challenges, including dealing with past trauma and practicing self-control. Throughout the day we practice giving each other positive feedback with cooperative learning, games, whole-brain learning, music and movement, and cheers.

The energy they bring into the room is contagious, as is their joy for learning and seeing their own progress!

I'd love it if you would partner together with me to help my students succeed!

My Project

This trait crate comes with 24 lesson ideas and 6 mentor texts to supplement lessons on each of the six traits of writing.

How better to teach writing than through exploring the power of quality children's literature together?

I would be so honored if you would partner together with me to help my students explore the six traits: ideas, organization, voice, word choice, sentence fluency, and conventions-to improve specific skills in writing. These resources will be available to other teachers in our school building, so many students will have the opportunity to enrich their reading and writing experience through them.
