My Students

I have the privilege of working with amazing middle school students. My students are very diverse. Multiple races, cultures, languages and abilities are what make our school community so great. At 12, 13, and 14 years old, these kids are learning to balance academics, peer relationships and extra-curricular responsibilities.

My students are learning the value of hard work and perseverance.

I am constantly reminded that my students want to learn. They want to be successful. These kids have shown time and time again, their ability to reach new heights when expectations are high and consistent.

My Project

A major goal of our P.E. program is to encourage student movement through activity and exercise. Students regularly participate in units that promote physical fitness, teamwork, individual effort and positive attitudes. The timer that I am requesting will play an integral part in our lessons. I have found that many students are motivated to work out in intervals. When they can see and hear a beginning and end of an interval, they are more likely to work until the timer goes off.

It is well known that movement not only affects physical health, but also academic achievement.

I also want students to learn first hand, the correlation between effort and outcomes. It is my goal that every student leaves the gym with confidence and a sense of self-pride.
