The students in my school love archery due to the fact that it is not only fun to do but appeals to all sizes and physical abilities. This sport has become extremely popular due to the Hunger Games series and my students are thrilled with the ability to experience this in physical education.
The students in my school come from a variety of backgrounds but have many traits in common.
They are all good normal students who want to experience education and have a common desire to succeed. My town is in a rural area far removed from large cities and the students are well aware of world events. The teaching staff strives to provide a quality education and prepare the students for the world as it exists today and provide them with tools for their future careers. The students are typical teenagers, big and small, special and exceptional with all the challenges that young people experience today in the fast evolving world of education. Our school is a safe haven for many of these kids and we all as a community strive for a clean, warm place to learn and grow. The students in this town are like one of the districts in Hunger Games, proud and special for what they provide to the state and the country.
My Project
The extra archery targets will allow seven more students to shoot during each round. We currently only have 5 targets and in a short class period, only a few students are able to shoot multiple rounds on the range. This is the biggest complaint I receive from the students because they really desire to practice more when we are in this unit. This will help with classroom management as less idle time will exist for all the students. This donation will definitely improve the overall effectiveness of this archery unit.
On the first day of school, the new students all asked, "When will we do archery?" As a teacher, there is nothing better than having your students ask to participate in one of your units.
Allowing more students to shoot a round of arrows during each class period is the only obstacle left in this favorite unit!
