Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Starting a new school year can bring a mix of nerves and excitement, especially for middle schoolers stepping into a new routine. In my homeroom, I want to create a learning environment where students feel prepared, focused, and engaged from the very first day.

This project will help make that possible by providing essential materials and meaningful resources that support both learning and belonging.

With headphones, students can dive into digital learning platforms, access read-alouds, and work independently with fewer distractions. Pencil pouches will help them stay organized and take ownership of their supplies, reducing daily stress. Fraction manipulatives will make abstract math concepts more concrete, supporting hands-on learning that builds confidence and deep understanding. Physical manipulatives help support students with disabilities and learning gaps to gain more confidence in working with fractions.

And for the moments when students need a brain break or a quiet space to recharge, we’ll have a collection of graphic novels and picture books! These books are fun, accessible, and culturally rich stories that invite every reader in, especially our multilingual learners and reluctant readers. These books will also support classroom conversations around identity, imagination, and empathy.
