Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are K-8 students from an urban district. Our school is 100% free breakfast and lunch. Breakfast is served in the classroom and students do not switch classrooms much at the younger grades. Most of my students are from Spanish speaking households.

My students need to be active and moving while learning.

They love working with technology. Students come to me when they cannot figure out what to do on the computer, but I also go to them when I cannot figure out today's latest technology. I love being able to provide technology integration to a 1 to 1 school, giving students a different idea of how technology is actually replacing the pen and paper.

My Project

I am requesting to go to a professional development in Indiana for creating movies to use in the classroom. Many teachers are going digital right now, and I would like to be able to turn-key what I learn to bring back to other teachers.

Everyone uses videos through various social media outlets to get their points across, teachers should embrace this culture!

Beyond learning how to make videos to bring into the classroom this opportunity allows me to network with other teachers. Teachers from all over the country come to this event and we all get to meet and talk about how our state/district/classroom uses the technology.

After being out of school for CoVid-19 I think we need to reinvent teaching and I think this is a great place to start my new teaching style.
