This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Music is the power that can unite the world and change it, but it's hard to do that if you don't have equipment to do it.

The students that I serve are a diverse population from the poorest of the poor to students that are well off in the sense of solid middle class kids.

We are a group of all colors and back grounds which makes Madison a very unique school. The students, regardless of back ground, are proud of their school and community which unites us as one.

My Project

When I came to this school, our music program was pretty much dead. Over the last two years we have grown. A major part of this growth was the success of our drum line, but it's been hard to grow a program and bring pride to a group when you only have instruments that are literally hand me downs. The cymbals will be used in everything from football games, to parades, to concerts. The use of them is endless, and the joy they will bring to the kids is priceless.

The donation will give the students not only a chance to learn but the opportunity to give back to the school and the community.

By performing and bringing music to the world we change that world in a better way.
