Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My school is a Title I school with a beautiful group of diverse students. I serve so many amazing students that come from so many different backgrounds. This year our school will not be able to supply teachers with a school supply allowance. Due to the limited resources of our families at the school, many students come to school without supplies. Although they come to school sometimes without the necessary supplies, it doesn’t limit their excitement to learn.

My Project

On March 14, 2020 it was announced that North Carolina students would not return to school until May 15 due to the COVID-15 pandemic. I have been conducting Zoom meetings twice a day everyday to ensure the success of all 91 of my kids! Having this whiteboard and speakers will allow me to better service my babies at home. Explaining various math concepts is difficult to do on a computer at times. Having this whiteboard will allow me to draw pictures and write out equations like my kiddos are use to seeing daily in my classroom. The speakers will help me hear my kids better when they answer questions. Some of my babies have very soft spoken, so my laptop speakers are not sufficient. Please help me bring some normalcy back to my kids’ lives during this time.
