My Project

My goal is to give my students a sensory room. I have created several small projects to slowly build a beautiful room. The swing and tent are highly desired pieces of equipment. Sensory-seeking students can swing to get the safe sensory input they crave. Sensory avoiding students can use the tent to regulate and relax.

Creating a sensory room at school can benefit all students, but especially students with autism, sensory processing disorder, anxiety, and ADHD.

Time in a sensory room helps children improve their visual, auditory, tactile processing, and motor skills. Sensory rooms can provide a sense of calm and comfort. Sensory rooms help children learn to self-regulate their behaviors, which ultimately improves focus.
