My Project

My 3rd graders are amazing students! They are kind, helpful, caring, and eager to learn. My students work in pairs and learning teams to help one another learn and grow. My goal for this project is to give my students a designated comfortable space for them to sit together as a class. A carpet enables students to have meaningful conversations that enhance their language development. It provides the opportunity for meaningful peer connections and fosters a community of mutual respect.

Having a classroom carpet allows my students close proximity to their teacher and learning partner to maximize learning for all students.

My students come from all different backgrounds and learning styles. Many students in my classroom speak two languages. All my students work very hard to learn each day but sitting on a hard tile floor can be both distracting and uncomfortable for long periods of time.

My students used their voices to decide on the perfect rug for our classroom. They unanimously chose this rug.

The additional circular carpet will go in our class reading center to allow small groups of students to gather together to partner read, have book discussions, and most importantly, foster a lifetime love of reading and learning.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
