Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember what you were like in first grade? If you had a short attention span then think about what your teacher did to engage you in the subject matter. For my students to be engaged in the learning process they need access to the resources that they can learn from and rely on in the future.

I have 24 students that are all very inquisitive, interactive, and eager to learn.

They like to ask questions and participate, especially in subject matter that they are interested in. A lot of this is due to the environment that our school creates for them. Our school goes the extra mile for the students and it strives to create an atmosphere that is safe and all part of one large school community. It does this with programs like Spirit Day and Caught Being Good (a program that rewards acts of kindness and helpfulness).

My Project

I am requesting an iPod docking system to provide my students with an endless library of audio learning material. Students will be able to listen to poems, chants, and a variety of music genre. Also, students will be able to listen to their anthology stories and read-along books. I am also requesting a 70" by 70" wall projection screen so that all students are able to see the lessons, PowerPoints, and movies clearly and without obstruction. In addition, students will also be able to present their own PowerPoints to their classmates. Finally, I am requesting an electrical pencil sharpener so that students can sharpen their pencils quickly and quietly without disrupting the learning environment and taking away their instructional time.

All of the equipment that I am requesting will improve the learning environment in the classroom by enhancing the method in which the subject matter is being presented.

It will also introduce the students to the world of technology that is constantly changing and improving the way we learn.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
