My Students
I will be beginning my 3rd year teaching pre-k in a Title 1 School. My students face many challenges inside and outside of the classroom which include limited opportunities and exposure to creative hands on learning. Despite their challenges I know they are capable of learning and reaching their full potential as well as gaining a love of learning.
"The very best opportunities to learn come about when students believe in themselves.
My students come from a variety of backgrounds and abilities. My hope is to provide them with every opportunity to learn.
My Project
My students need an easel, pocket chart and magnet letters to continue to improve their knowledge of the alphabet and build their literary skills to prepare for reading. By being exposed to letters in different environments throughout the classroom and having the ability to manipulate and explore them they will increase their alphabet knowledge and prepare them to be readers. Students will use the letters and easel as well as the felt board pocket chart to explore letters and retell stories in the classroom library. My students need to be exposed to a variety of ways to explore and manipulate letters in order to broaden their knowledge and awareness of the alphabet as well as learning sounds to begin to put letters together to read and be ready for kindergarten.
