This year we want to really focus on developing our pre-k students number sense and math abilities. They need lots of hands on materials in order to explore and become familiar with numbers. My students learn best when teaching begins with concrete materials. My hope is that by supplying them with quality material and manipulative my students will grow in their ability to understand numbers and beginning math concepts. Students need opportunities to grow their knowledge of numbers and mathematical understanding and without the proper materials they are unable to get a good working knowledge of mathematics. It is important that we start this learning now to help with future learning successes in math instruction.
