Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

The 2023-2024 school year was a significant leap forward for our school. For the first time in nearly a decade, a band emerged, following our football players to the state championships, our basketball players, culminating in a pep rally hosted by the mayor Ed Gainey. What started as a simple pep band of five students in fan apparel turned into twenty students in full uniform playing their hearts out in the stands to the joy of the loyal Westinghouse community.

Now it's time for the next step.

As I prepare for the task of getting these kids ready for a high steppin' field show, there are materials required for the band to function. Everything from reeds, to drumsticks, to instrument maintenance supplies are required for this effort and a new band doesn't exactly have the funds necessary to cover all these supplies. So here I am humbly asking for your help. Anything you can contribute will keep the music playing, the students learning, and the joy spreading.
