We got to meet Ms. Barbara Barge in Selma who was a teenage foot soldier during the marches across the Edmund Pettus Bridge. In Birmingham, we got to hear from Rev. Carolyn McKinstry who survived the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing. My students also had the opportunity to explore their own family histories at the Freedom Monument Sculpture Park in Montgomery as part of the National Monument to Freedom. \r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, my students were able to pack everything that they needed to be comfortable for the week-long trip down South. Many of the items will come in handy for future travels that they will take!
