The Reset Realm

Help me give my students sensory tools, visual menus, and light experiences for self-regulation in our classroom. These opportunities can be found through incredible and ordinary household items for calming and active learning to reset non-targeted behavior.

My Project

I am extremely excited when one of my K-3rd grade students wend over to a designated corner in the classroom for self-regulation strategies. My students with autism and other intellectual disabilities are extremely reactive to auditory and visual stimuli. The special place is used as a calm area and play/learning zone simultaneously. Some of my students self-regulate through play (rocking, jumping, spinning, stretching, building, coloring, etc) and others through low-stimulus activities, which help to reset or redo their brain, lower anxiety, and help them feel safe. (noise-counseling headphones, black-out items, etc. )

I would like to add additional materials for our classroom reset realm for my students to respond constuctively while preventing any impulsive reactions.
