This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are a wonderful bunch of children ranging from Kindergarten to 8th grade. My students come from different diverse backgrounds. The dynamics of each of my students is one of the many reasons I love my job. My school is recognized as being in a very nice neighborhood, however many of the students who attend TM live in the nearby housing project. This results in my school being considered high needs. I teach Health and Physical Education to every grade and finding enough supplies/materials/equipment for each student can be challenging.
My Project
Unicef Kid Power Bands are wearable fitness tracking devices that also gives kids the power to save lives and make an impact. The bands will allow the students to track their own activity, as well as unlock lifesaving nutrition packets for severely malnourished children.
The more the students move, the more lifesaving nutrition packets they unlock, and the more lives saved!
UNICEF will deliver the RUFT packets to malnourished children in need.
In addition to the bands, the children will receive access to a dashboard to track their everyday movement and activity progress. This will encourage the students to get active and make a positive impact!
