My Project

Kids love to play. There is no doubt that young children learn best through play. This transfers easily to early learning centers and elementary schools. However, once students enter middle school, many start to disassociate from education. Middle school teachers commonly hear, "School is boring," or "Can I go home yet?" Many lose interest as classes become more rigorous. What we need to remember is that middle schoolers are still kids! While we still need to hold high educational expectations and rigor, we also need to make sure students are still engaged. They love games and view them as a break from learning, but what if they were an extension?

By adding a variety of games, students will be able to practice and expand upon their literacy skills without realizing they are still learning.

In addition, many middle school students struggle to find themselves and make new friends at this age. Through interaction with both classmates and adults as they play games, connections can be fostered to help build a classroom community.

Research shows that play has a positive impact in all aspects. Please help keep my middle school students stay engaged in their learning!
