Help me give my students yoga mats to practice mindfulness and ready their bodies for learning.

I am fortunate enough to teach a group of energetic and enthusiastic first graders. I teach at a Title I school and my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite these challenges, the one thing that never wavers is our love of learning and a sense of belonging within our classroom.
Learning is noisy in our classroom.
My students take an active role in their learning and collaborate with their peers. We are critical thinkers and problem solvers.
Over our holiday break, we were fortunate to be gifted with tile floors. We were thankful to be rid of the very old and dirty carpet, however it left us with cold and hard floors. My students have been practicing meditation and yoga all year and it's not as easy to concentrate with nothing to pad our little bodies.
Yoga can benefit kids significantly.
Yoga teaches self acceptance, healthy habits and positive mental health. In a society sending so many messages of inadequacy, yoga teaches kids to love themselves. My hope is to each this skills at a young age and give them tools to fight off the increasing feelings of self-doubt that come during the teen years and beyond.
