Help me give my students the tools they need to fully explore the power of Visual Technology in our new Art Computer lab. The Huion Inspiroy H950P Graphics Drawing Tablet is an excellent choice to accomplish this goal.
My students come from a poverty stricken, rural community. Art and culture are not a large part of their lives. It is my job to encourage them to see beyond the boundaries of this community. In most counties, a small portion of the schools are considered Title I, however, our entire county is Title I. A larger percentage of our student body is living with extended family or friends, rather than their own mother or father. Many students have been abandoned, kicked out, or are considered runaways.
My students are eager to learn.
They have limited exposure to many creative career opportunities in areas such as film-making, graphic design, illustration, sequential art, and animation to name just a few. Technology skills are vital as they look to the future.
Last year was the first year that a Visual Technology Lab was available to students at this school. We are just getting started with work in both 2D and 3D modeling programs, animation, photo & video editing, and portfolio presentation programs. Graphics tablets offer so much more than mouse when it comes to digital imaging. It will be an awesome experience for my students to create with the best tools available.
With a pressure sensitive pen on a graphics tablet, my students will develop the skills necessary to produce digital art with a purpose. By simply controlling the "quality" or "personality" of a line, a clear message can be projected to the viewer. The students will have far greater control over their line work with a pressure sensitive pen on a graphics tablet than with the mouse.
Creating Storyboards that get the message across!
Students will learn to create digital storyboards that can fully convey an idea for a proposed project in animation or film. By controlling the expressive quality of line with a pressure sensitive pen, students can create emotion in their work that will connect the viewer with the intended message. Following the creation of storyboards, students will use these skills to create character designs, background images and final illustrations digitally as they bring their concepts to life.
