Celebrate Black Teachers and Students
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I teach reading to struggling first and second graders at a charter school in New York.
Listening to a read aloud does not threaten my students who are struggling. They are included as a listener and an active participant during discussion without the pressure of having to decode the words and comprehend the story simultaneously.
Having this project funded will allow me to expose my students through the power of a read aloud to people, places and things they wouldn't encounter otherwise.
Your help will make it possible for my students to develop a love for books and reading. With your donation, I will be able to inspire my students to love books and story. As a result, I am hoping this will encourage and motivate them to become lifelong readers!!
