My Project

The goal of "The Portrait of Giving Project" is for student photographers to create and provide portraits for those in low income communities who WANT, and would otherwise, not be able to afford portraits of themselves and their families. Additionally, these talented student photographers will print, matte and frame the artwork for these recipients.The money provided will pay for mats, ink, photo prints and frames, but most importantly, it will give students the opportunity to gain empathy by serving others and sharing their talent. The social emotional aspect of this project will have affect on both the giver and the receiver.

The lesson is to always pay it forward.

During the course of this project, the students will hone their artistic skill, while becoming more aware and sensitive to others, and those less fortunate will receive the gift of a beautiful portrait. Everyone wins.
