Preschoolers are a lively bunch and meet new experiences with joy and fearlessness. Our class is full of "characters." Some might call them "spirited," some "challenging" but anyone would agree they're interesting. Most of them qualify for free or reduced price lunch, and some face serious challenges outside of school hours. Our goal as teachers is to make the students’ limited school hours as rich as possible.
Our school tries hard to support each class' needs, but in these lean times, there are limits to what any school can afford.
Without help, some needs are aspirations but never reality.
Each year our class engages in a process called "The Project Approach". It allows children to immerse themselves in a topic and learn about it in many different, creative ways. Our upcoming project -books - is such a huge topic that every child in our class will have a chance to consider in depth some aspect that interests them.
To culminate the project, we'd like to attend a children's theater performance of "Knuffle Bunny", a favorite book of kids and teachers alike.
The Preschool years can be a magical time for children when they are fortunate enough to have a rich Preschool classroom experience, and you can help us do just that.
