Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I have the pleasure of spending my days with a classroom full of amazing, gifted and talented students from all different cultural backgrounds. They love to learn, collaborate and have fun while doing it!

All of my students receive free or reduced lunch and are bussed in order to participate in the self-contained PLATO gifted program at my school.

I work in an amazing and supportive place...we have loving, talented teachers and an incredible administration and support staff. Each day I spend with my students is a treasure!

My Project

In my classroom full of gifted learners, I am always looking for new (and different!) ideas to not only challenge my students, but to continue to build a strong classroom community. I feel that allowing students daily access to a puzzle center will provide many learning opportunities.

Puzzles are brain food!

Puzzles sharpen student's creative thinking and are a wonderful tool to help build problem-solving skills. A center full of puzzles that support our Social Studies curriculum will not only reinforce the academic skills we are learning, but help build student's grit, stamina and ability to work alongside their peers collaboratively.
