Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world."
Despite living in a low income/high poverty neighborhood, where drugs and violence are common, I teach 25 of the most wonderful third grade students!
They are hard working and outstanding. They deserve nothing but the best from our public school education system. My students are highly motivated and I inspire them to reach their goals and learn every single day. They come from a diverse background. Eighty percent of my students eat a free healthy breakfast every morning, with the same amount of students receiving free lunch. Most of my students have learned English as their second language. Despite their many social and economic hardships, my students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day.
My Project
For the September 2018 school year, I would love to implement The Picture Perfect STEM Science program into our 3rd grade classroom. This year, I noticed that my 3rd graders were so engaged in STEM activities. Through research and professional development, I came across a program that integrates science and literacy. In order to implement this amazing program, we need to introduce and enhance our classroom library with quality children's books to inspire STEM learning.
My students are so deserving of these books.
The books will help foster the integration of science, technology, engineering and mathematics into their daily classroom learning through literacy, center play, math and science centers.
