Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our students are resilient, vibrant, and full of potential. Many of them come from multilingual, immigrant, or underserved communities, and they bring with them rich cultural identities, powerful stories, and a deep desire to learn and grow. Despite facing daily challenges, they show up with courage, heart, and determination. They deserve a space that meets not only their academic needs but also their social, emotional, and cultural ones.
With your support, We're hoping to transform a part of our school into a safe, calm, and healing environment that students can access during classes, after-school programs, festivals, and other community events.
The space will be equipped with large-scale games to foster teamwork, reduce stress, and encourage joy, organizational baskets to maintain a clutter-free and peaceful setting, comfortable seating for students to relax, decompress, and feel at home, snacks to keep them nourished and focused throughout the day, paint and cultural flags to bring life, identity, and pride to our space, tablecloths to keep things clean and organized during activities and meals, and other materials that promote reflection, creativity, and connection.
This space will offer a calming alternative to the traditional classroom, a space where students and their families can feel emotionally safe, culturally seen, and socially connected. Whether they’re participating in a heritage celebration, journaling during a mental health activity, or simply needing a moment to reset during a tough day, this environment will help them feel grounded and supported.
Our goal is to build a community-centered space and have materials for events that reflects the beauty of who my students are and supports their full potential academically, emotionally, and socially.
