My Students

I truly have a great group of eighth grade students. They are fun, loving, and very active. They are an attentive group of students who enjoy learning. They keep me laughing, and I can honestly say that I enjoy each day with them. Many of them enjoy reading and most all of them enjoy being read to, which I do often in my classroom. I am working hard to improve their reading and writing skills before they go to the high school.

My Project

Each year my students absolutely love reading the book, The Outsiders, by S.E. Hinton. This book tends to pique the interest of all students, no matter their background, reading level, or interests. The Outsiders always seems to captivate students and even inspire non-readers to read more. This novel also lends itself to great classroom discussions and writing topics. Unfortunately, the classroom set of The Outsiders that I currently have are very worn, torn, and weathered and are in desperate need of replacement. By replacing this class set of novels, I will be able to continue reading The Outsiders to many classes in the future!
