Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My beautiful second graders live in a diverse community and are beginning to understand the real world around them. They live in a high-poverty, high-traffic neighborhood with the school setting being their own little world. For this reason, I try to create a warm and welcoming classroom environment where they feel safe and receive regular doses of knowledge and encouragement.

The silicone keyboards and tens frames will be so engaging for my students, since they can pop as they learn.

The diverse collection of puzzles, games and activities will provide opportunities for my students to work independently or with a partner. Rather than depending on technology, these hands-on materials will encourage my students to practice and develop their phonics, rhyming and blending skills. Finally, the laminating sheets and Velcro-type dots will be used to create other worksheets and resources to keep my students learning.
